The Shehnai is related to the oboe and, according to Ayurveda, its unique sound is supposed to widen awareness, support the release of incriminating thoughts and regenerate and revitalize mind and body. The famous Indian music director Ashit Desai presents here Shambhaji Dhumal, an absolute master of Shehnai. Nestled in a gentle accompaniment of guitar, keyboards and tabla, Shambaji Dhumal plays wide swinging melodies - whispering, cheerful, elated - and expressive rhythmic improvisations, sometimes reminiscent of the saxophone of Jan Garbarek. All 7 pieces  last around 10 minutes, consist of a free introduction and a groovy theme with variations and are based on themes and forms of classical Indian raga music.
