The straps (baddi) of tablas and other Indian drums are exposed to considerable traction forces. The traditional rawhide straps age with time, become brittle and may break in the occasional tightening.

We carry traditional rawhide straps made of buffalo skin. This organic material varies slightly in thickness, width and stretch. We check it for thin spots and visible defects. Our straps are cut to a length of about 11 metres / 36 feet- sufficient for a tabla or a baya. Standard width is 9 to 10 mm and standard thickness is 2 mm. We can supply other sizes for Khol, Pakhawaj or Mridangam on request.
