Dome Manjeeras / Kartals

Manjeeras are cymbals made of cast brass. In Bengal and eastern India they are also called kartals. They are clinked together, generating a very powerful, high-pitched, piercing, metalic sound, often with slight beats.

Traditionally, manjeeras are not tuned to a specific pitch. However, our special dome manjeeras are tuned as close as possible to certain notes, based on a = 440 hertz. This can be very useful for professional musicians in concerts and recordings. They are dome-shaped throughout with no flat rims and therefore require a slightly different playing technique than traditional flat manjeeras. With their high-pitched, lasting sound they can also be played individually with mallets like small bells.

Features

Our tuned cast brass dome manjeeras are available in the two sizes small and large. They come in pairs, bound together by a cotton thread, and are tuned to a definete pitch. The smaller the manjeeras, the higher the sound.
