Harmonium Mastery
Comprehensive online video course for harmonium from the beginning to professional performance.
Do you want to learn the harmonium seriously and be able to play it skilfully on stage? Then Harmonium Mastery with Tahir Qawwal is the right tool for you! Harmonium Mastery is a uniquely comprehensive, systematic learning programme - from the first beginnings to virtuoso performances. In 34 videos totalling over 6 hours of playing time, each step is explained in detail in English and demonstrated on the harmonium in a way that is easy to follow. Many exercises can be played directly along with the video. Both the view of the keyboard and fingers from the playing perspective and the outside perspective are shown. The names of the notes are often shown as a guide.
The basis of the course is the classical Indian music system. All traditional Indian chants, mantras, kirtans, bhajans and other forms of spiritual music are based on the classical Indian music system. It is the key to understanding their melodies and rhythms - and therefore essential for any yoga path that works with sound. In the more advanced part, three popular Qawwalis are taught - ornate mystical songs of the Sufis from northern India and Pakistan.
The teacher Tahir Qawwal was born in Canada and began learning tabla as a teenager. He went to India, learnt classical Indian singing, was initiated by a Sufi master and studied Qawwali, the spiritual music tradition of the Sufis in South Asia, with important masters. Since 2001, he has toured the world as lead singer and harmonium soloist with the Qawwali ensemble Fanna-Fi-Allah, which has performed at some of the holiest dargahs (Sufi shrines) in Pakistan and India. Tahir is also a passionate teacher. The promotion of women as qawwali musicians is particularly close to his heart.
