In this concert recording from 2002 we present sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan performing two ragas traditionally associated with the rainy season. First a full alaap in Raga Miyan Ki Malhar, followed by compositions in Raga Desh. The Miyan Ki Malhar includes a rarely performed tar paran section where Fateh Singh Gangani accompanies on pakhawaj. The Desh includes solos and accompaniment from both Fateh Singh Gangani and tabla player Rashid Mustafa.

Amjad Ali Khan (* 1945), youngest son of Gwalior court musician Hafiz Ali Khan, was born into a musical family and has performed internationally since the 1960s. He was awarded India's second highest civilian honor, the Padma Vibhushan, in 2001.
