Shujaat Khan is the eldest son of the late Ustad Vilayat Khan and now considered to be one of the brightest stars of his generation of musicians. He is also most famously known as one half of the duet of ?Ghazal? with Kayan Kalhor. Known for captivating audiences around the world with his sitar playing, he has also been gifted with an exceptional voice allowing him to demonstrate his flair for singing folk and mystical music. In this album he sings the songs of the Sufis (Mystic Islam), popularised by the late Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. It is said that it is ?The duty of a Sufi musician to reduce the distance between the Creator and the Created?. As always the booklet give translations of the songs in English.
