Our peg blanks for Indian string instruments are made in one piece from hardwood. They consist of a conic bar, which is stuck inside the instrument, and a broad carved head, which is gripped for moving the peg. The different labellings refer to the shape of the head. The spiral peg has a spiral-shaped head, and the blossom peg's head is carved like a blossom.
The peg blanks are considerably thicker than required. They need to be adjusted individually to the holes of the instrument (or vice versa). A wood turner will be able to bring the raw peg down to the required diameter. Alternatively you can also try and file the raw peg into the right shape, if you have a skilled hand and a good file.
Our peg blanks do not have any hole for attaching the string. The best position for the hole can only be determined after the peg has been fitted to the instrument. However we can deliver raw pegs with a standard hole upon request.
