Indian Slide Guitar Hansa Veena Monoj Kumar Sardar
The hansa veena is a kind of Indian slide guitar with five main guitar strings, three drone strings and 13 sympathetic strings.
The position of the notes is marked with inlays for easy playing. Sound quality and workmanship are of professional standard. We do not always keep hansa veenas in our store, but we are ready to order them any time upon request.

Dark stained toon wood, glossy varnish, eight main strings on mechanical pegs, 13 sympathetic strings on wooden pegs, tailpiece made of brass, carved swan head at the end of the pegbox, floral design carving around the top, including stainless steel slide and artificial leather case.
The shape and design of the hansa veena were invented by Barun Pal in cooperation with Monoj Kumar Sardar. The strings are plucked with fingerpicks and the melody is articulated with a stainless steel slide. The technique is basically the same as on other Indian slide guitars like the Mohan veena of Vishwa Mohan Bhatt or the Chaturangui of Debashish Bhattacharya.
MONOJ KUMAR SARDAR & BROTHERS is a relatively large-scale manufacturer in the heart of Calcutta looking back on a rich tradition of three generations. It is run by four brothers, all of them trained craftsmen specialising in different aspects of instrument making. They mainly make sitars, tanpuras, esrajs, dilrubas, harmoniums and shrutiboxes. But the eldest brother and manager Monoj Kumar will get you every other instrument that is manufactured in India as well. Due to our long-term co-operation with Monoj Kumar Sardar since 1994, we receive instruments with a high quality level in terms of sound, workmanship and materials. Today Monoj Kumar Sardar's quality can well compete with other renowned brands like Hemen and Hiren Roy for string instruments or Pakrashi, Paul and Bina for harmoniums.
