This Dhrupad recital pays homage to Bidur Mallik.

Amelia Cuni was born in Italy and studied Dhrupad since the late 1970s with Rahim Fahimuddin Dagar, D.C. Vedi and Bidur Mallik. She not only performs in traditional style, but has also taken Dhrupad into the field of contemporary music. In this second album for Navras the listener can appreciate her crystal clear voice in alap and bandish, as well as her interpretations of the compositions with their very lively and elaborate rhythmic cycle.
