Kishori Mohan Naskar (1923-1988) was one of the best makers of Indian stringed instruments of his generation. After an apprenticeship at Makhanlal & Sons, he opened his own shop in Calcutta in 1941. Naskar Sitars are known for their beautiful sound and good playability. Today (2015), the shop is run by Kishori Mohan's son Arabinda Roy (Naskar), who was taught the family tradition by his father. Arabinda's son Krishnendu Roy is the next generation in this family tradition.
