SHANTI BADYA BHANDAR - Tablas, Khols

Shanti Badya Bhandar is a young tabla brand from Kolkata. Its founder Kuber Das learnt tabla making from Gyan Das. Gyan Das was also the teacher of Shyamal Das, head of the renowned workshop Narayan Badya Bhandar. Kuber worked for Narayan Badya Bhandar for several years and during that time also learnt how to build excellent khols from Shyamal's father. Today, Kuber Das works in his own workshop where he develops his own ideas on the art of tabla making. One of his innovations is the use of steel instead of copper for the body of the bayan. This makes his bayans cheaper and more robust without compromising on sound quality.
